The other day on one of the many Facebook football forums a High School coach commented that he loved my creativity with the Beast Offense plays & formations but said if a Freshman player came to him with a play named Beast Wall Witch Jaw he would not take him very seriously.

He also stated that the Beast Offense is not teaching football fundamentals. Of course it does! Blocking being a big focus of the Beast Offense.

The Beast formation and play diagram post of the Beast Wall and Beast Chow did very well in the forum but he was hung up on the names of the Beast Plays.

I did respond to his post by asking him if he had heard some the Kansas City Chief’s play names and maybe his play naming game was a little weak compared to mine. And maybe his players think he might be a little uncreative.

I also explained my play names are also audibles and weird names so the young 5-12 year old youth football players can remember the names easier. It has worked for us for years. Each play also has a regular name too; Beast Wall 19 Sweep Down Block or Beast Tight Stack Bunch 19 Sweep GOLD. It is so simple to rename plays that you like and put them into your own verbiage. I do it all the time.

As for the fundamentals we tach, I ask him what fundamentals his Offense teaches. If like most HS coaches around here watching local players; dropping Spread formation passes and poor blocking techniques. But, I digress. We all have our flaws but the Beast Offense and Plays is not one of them. IMO.
