Beast Wide Sweep Play

The Beast Wide Sweep play or Worm Sweep is another anchor play in the Beast Offense from the Power Wing Beast Offense playbook for youth football.

The Beast Wide or Worm formation widens the three Beast Blocking Backs just outside the tight end so they may easier block the edge rushers to gain better leverage. This formation is a great power sweep option formation for youth football offenses. The formation is a simple horizontal bunch.

Over the years, this play nickname / audible has been So Long, Broomhilda and Wicked Witch. I like to use Witch names for the Sweep play since witches ride brooms that sweep.

Beast Wide Sweep play offense

The Beast Wide Under Center or Wuky / Wucky is the same play with the Beast Back under center. The play under center is still very effective since the Beast Back is hidden behind the big offensive line then pops out at the edge.

The Beast Wide Worm / Wucky Sweep play is one of the top plays in youth football. After I run this play in a league, this will be maybe the first play every youth football team will copy from my games. It looks a little more modern than the Beast Tight formation.

Beast Worm Sweep Play Player Responsibilities

  • Beast Back – receives the snap and sweeps to the but of the 3 back or wider depending on the edge blocking. We like them to try to get to the numbers quickly and run the ladder to the end zone.
  • 4 Back – Blocks / seals edge rusher or down blocks his inside gap player just outside the TE. In the count system he is #1 and has the first man head up on the TE.
  • 3 Back – Blocks / seals edge rusher or down blocks his inside gap player from the 4BBB. In the count system he is #2 and has the second man from head up on the TE.
  • 2 Back – Blocks / seals edge rusher or down blocks his inside gap player from the 3BBB. In the count system he is #3 and has the third man from head up on the TE.
  • Y – Block Down / JAW
  • PT – Block Down / JAW
  • T – Block Down / JAW
  • PG – Block Down / JAW
  • C – Block Down / JAW
  • G – Block Down / JAW
  • X – Block Down / JAW
